Whether your planning a simple English cream tea, an afternoon tea or a high tea be sure you know which type of tea party you plan to host. Though people often use the terms afternoon tea and high tea interchangeable they are actually distinctly different.
Cream Tea is a light meal of tea taken with a combination of plan scones, jam, clotted cream and usually served between noon and 2 PM.
Afternoon Tea includes small finger sandwiches, cakes and usually takes place in the afternoon.
High Tea is not really a fancy tea as many people assume. Scones, finger sandwiches and cakes are part of afternoon tea. However, High Tea includes a more substantive fare, such as meat, fish, egg dishes as well as breads and deserts. High Tea is offered in the early evening. Think of it as a light supper served with tea. If you want to serve high tea you could serve an assortment of savory pasties along with scones, jam, clotted cream, finger sandwiches and cakes to make a lovely meal of it.
Cream, Afternoon and High tea packages are based on four adults per table but you can add two additional adults per table for a fee. We suggest one tea pot per four adults. If you to set your party table for six adults we suggest adding the large silver plated urn.
Our Children’s Tea packages are especially unique and delightful in that they are almost identical to the adult package except that the items are ‘child size’. For example, while the adult will take tea from the Arthur Woods #6304 six cup tea pot and drink from the Wedgwood Alpine pink tea cup the children will have the Arthur Woods #6304 four cup tea pot and drink from the Wedgwood Alpine pink demitasse cup and so on.
The children packages and based on four children per table but you can make it six for an additional fee. You can add the small silver plated urn to this package to serve plenty of tea as well. Table clothes, vases and other party items are also available for rent under our collection pages.
The Mother daughter Tea packages include two adult settings and two children settings.
The children’s Slumber Party is a fun way to have a sleep over and a tea party at the same time. Along with tea, try serving a light continental breakfast of croissants with butter, ham slices, cheese and maybe fresh strawberry’s or bananas. look for the smaller croissants and cut the ham and cheese into small triangles to give that special touch. If you don’t want to serve children black tea you could try the Downton Abbty English rose tea. Not only is it a lovely tasting tea it is pink!
Our Garden Party package is a tea party intended for large groups with food being served buffet style. Choose the traditional cup, saucer and plate sets or the vintage snack sets. The snack sets are a great alternative to the traditional sets for an eloquent vintage party AND we have hundreds of them!
